General information

- It grows in many parts of the world and it is a popular ingredient in cooking due to its strong smell and delicious taste.
- Garlic is a common ingredient in every kitchen. It is easy to include in our diet. It complements most savory dishes, particularly soups and sauces.Therefore, the best way to consume garlic is raw, or to crush and cut it and leave it out for a while before you add it to different recipes.
- We now know that most of the health effects are caused by one of the sulfur compounds formed when a garlic clove is chopped, crushed or chewed. This compound is known as allicin, and is also responsible for the distinct garlic smell.
- Garlic is highly nutritious, but it has very few calories.  A garlic contains:
  • Manganese
  • Vitamin B6
  • Vitamin C
  • Selenium
  • Fiber
  • Garlic also contains trace amounts of various other nutrients. In fact, it contains a little bit of almost everything we need.
- Garlic is easy to grow and produces numerous bulbs. December and January is the better time to plant. Fertilize the cloves with compost. -  Water the garlic plant regularly if rain has not fallen.
